Community Nutrition Centers are an outreach service of the Montgomery County Council on Aging. Monday through Friday of each week, we provide a hot midday meal to persons 60+ while offering nutrition education, fun and fellowship.
Who is eligible?
Adults aged 60+ can participate in the program. Note that spouses of seniors are eligible as well, even if they are younger than 60.
What are the benefits of the program?
In addition to ensuring that seniors maintain a healthy diet, our Community Nutrition Centers also provide a welcoming social environment. People can participate in crafts and games, take advantage of a variety of health and wellness programs, and locate information and resources while being with friends.
How much do meals cost?
There is NO fee for Community Nutrition Center meals. We do ask, though, that participants contribute what they can. No one will be denied service if they are unable to contribute. All contributions are used to expand the service and provide more meals.
Where is the service available?
Meals are served at the Montgomery County Senior Center in Troy and at the Highland Community Center in Mt. Gilead. Contact us at 910-572-3757 to locate the Community Nutrition Center closest to you.
How do I get there if I’m unable to drive?
The Regional Coordinated Area Transportation System (RCATS) provides van service to our Community Nutrition Centers Monday through Friday of each week. Phone the Montgomery County Council on Aging for more information.
How do I register?
To register for Community Nutrition Center meals, contact the Montgomery County Council on Aging at 910-572-3757.
