The number of older adults in Montgomery County is soaring. The U.S. Census Bureau projects that by 2020, almost one in every four Montgomery County residents will be aged 60 or older – up from 18.4% in 2000.
Though the health of older Americans is improving, nearly 20 percent are expected to experience some level of disability. That means they may need ongoing support in order to live independently. Montgomery County Council on Aging helps lend that support.
Nutrition, education, transportation and caregiver support are particularly important to adults 60+, helping them live independently for longer periods of time and enjoy an improved quality of life.
