Summer is Here and Temps are Rising!

The National Weather Service in Raleigh and Wakefield, VA have issued a Heat Advisory for Wednesday July 12 through Friday, July 14, 2017 for several counties in Eastern North Carolina.  Although Montgomery County is not listed in the advisory, it is important to be aware that it will still be hot and humid across the state.  Anyone spending any length of time outside should proceed with caution.

Please observe the following recommendations:

  • Drink plenty of fluids.
  • If spending multiple hours outside, take breaks in cool or air-conditioned environments.
  • Speak with your physician about how to stay safe if you take medicines that make you more vulnerable to heat, such as drugs for high blood pressure, migraines, allergies, muscle spasms, mental illness and tranquilizers.
  • Reduce time spent outside during the hottest part of the day, usually between 11 am - 4 pm.
