Boil Water Advisory 11/5/2018

Due to a water main break and/or a severe loss of pressure on November 5th, Montgomery County water customers are experiencing outages and periods of low pressure. This outage is affecting customers located on Saunders Rd, Pekin Rd, Hicks Rd and Springdale Heights. Outages and periods of low pressure increase the potential for back-siphoning and introduction of bacteria into the water system.

Once service is restored, Montgomery County Public Utilities staff will flush the distribution lines in the affected areas.  This will likely continue for 24 hours.  Please be aware that periods of air and/or discoloration are likely upon service being restored. This poses no health risk in and of itself.  Flushing your system by leaving a faucet running should clear the lines.

However, outages and periods of low pressure increase the potential for back-siphoning and introduction of bacteria into the water system. Therefore, the Division of Water Resources advises that when water service is restored, consumers boil all water used for human consumption (including drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice and food preparation), or use bottled water until water quality tests confirm that your water is safe for human consumption.  Vigorous boiling for 1 minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present.

This advisory will remain in effect until water quality confirmation is obtained and notice is issued.  If you have any questions concerning this notice, please contact the Montgomery County Public Utilities Department at 910-439-6197.
