Our Communities

Montgomery County, NC is home to five incorporated towns—each with it’s own personality. In addition to the summaries below, be sure to visit each town’s website to learn more!

Town of Biscoe

Located on the eastern edge of the Montgomery County, Biscoe sits adjacent to both the Uwharrie National Forest (to the west) and Interstate 73/74 (to the east). Now home to just over 1750, Biscoe was incorporated in 1901. Learn more about the Town of Biscoe.

Town of Candor

Also located on the eastern edge of Montgomery County, Candor, NC is home to approximately 850 residents. Be sure to mark your calendars so you won’t miss North Carolina Peach Festival, held in town every year on the third Saturday in July. Learn more about the Town of Candor.

Town of Mt. Gilead

Mt. Gilead, NC sites on the western side of Montgomery County, just minutes from both Lake Tillery and the Uwharrie National Forest. Town of Star

Located in the northeastern part of Montgomery County, Star is the true geographic center of the State of North Carolina. It’s proximity to I-73/74 provides its 800+ residents and many businesses easy access to several fast growing metro areas. Learn more about the Town of Star.

Town of Troy

Troy, NC is Montgomery County’s largest municipality and its seat of government. The Town is home to approximately 3,200 people, and its motto is “the Gateway to the Uwharries.” Learn more about the Town of Troy.
