Camp the Uwharries
Camp in one of Badin Lake Recreation Area's four developed campgrounds:
Arrowhead, Badin Lake, Canebrake Horse Camp and Badin Group.
RV hook ups are available at most of these. Reserve a site by calling (877) 444-6777 or at www.recreation.gov.
Arrowhead Campground - 789 NC Hwy 24/27 E. Troy, NC is near the Cove Boat Ramp for launching trailered boats and is shaded by loblolly pines and oaks with 50 campsites a quarter mile from Badin Lake! The campground is suited for RV camping. Sites 12-45 have electricity while all have a picnic table, grill, lantern post and fire ring. The campground has 6 water spigots, a bathhouse with flush toilets and showers. There are single and double sites and a dump station is available for sewer and drinking water for RV's. Alcohol is prohibited in the campground.
Badin Lake Campground FR 597A (NC Hwy. 109 N to a Left on Mullinix Rd.; Turn Right on FR 544 and travel 1.8 miles; turn Right on FR 597 for 0.1 mile; turn left on FR 597A) offers 35 sites for tent or RV camping. Each site has a picnic table, grill, fire ring and lantern post. Drinking water spigots, flush toilets and showers are available. There are single and double sites, but no electric hook-ups. You can launch canoes or kayaks from the shore or drive 2 miles to the Cove Boat Ramp to launch a boat from a trailer. Alcohol is prohibited in the campground.
Badin Lake Group Camp offers tent and RV camping. The camp has 3 sites with fire rings, tables, tent pads, showers and toilets. This is available by reservation only and has a fee of $40 per night.
Canebrake Horse Camp offering 40 miles of nearby horse trails has all electric sites and is near the shores of Badin Lake for fishing. It has 29 sites with parking spurs for trailers and each site has a picnic table, grill, fire ring, tack table, lantern and highline posts. Up to two vehicles are allowed at each campsite. It is open all year and offers spigots for drinking water, showers, flush toilets and a horse wash station. A dump stations is available for sewer and drinking water for RV's. There are single and double sites available for a fee. Riders can choose from 24 named trails with various mileage and ratings of easy, moderate, difficult and extremely difficult. Alcohol is prohibited and pets must be kept on leashes.
Twin Harbor Camping Resort - Twin Harbor Dr. Mt. Gilead, NC is small RV Park with 10 pull through pads, electric, water and sewer hook ups as well as a pool!
Primitive Camping - Primitive tent camping is allowed anywhere in the Uwharrie National Forest.
